The FreeMe consortium successfully held its final review meeting, marking the completion of four years of collaborative research and innovation dedicated to developing toxic-free Plating on Plastics (PoP) technologies based on Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design (SSbD) principles.
During the meeting, the project partners presented the scientific, technical, dissemination, and exploitation achievements developed throughout the project, highlighting the significant progress made towards replacing conventional toxic substances used in metallisation processes with safer and more sustainable alternatives. The discussions also focused on the successful validation of the developed technologies, the project’s key demonstrators, stakeholder engagement activities, and the long-term impact of the project results.
The review meeting provided an excellent opportunity to reflect on the project’s achievements, the strong collaboration established among the consortium partners, and the valuable contributions made towards advancing sustainable surface treatment technologies. The successful completion of FreeMe represents an important milestone in supporting the transition towards safer and more environmentally friendly industrial manufacturing processes.
The consortium would like to thank the European Commission, the Project Officer, the reviewer, and all project partners for their continuous support and collaboration throughout this exciting journey.
